Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026. We take privacy seriously — it's part of the reason our clients choose us.

Who we are

Essential Solar Ltd is the data controller for the information we collect through this website and our services. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can contact us at hello@essentialsolar.co.uk.

What we collect

When you contact us we collect only the information you give us: usually your name, email address, phone number, postcode, and any details you share about your enquiry. If you become a client, we may also collect information relevant to your project such as your address, electricity usage, roof details, and any quotes you share with us.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and provide the advice you asked for
  • Match you with an appropriate installer (only with your explicit consent)
  • Keep records of our advice and any work we've done for you
  • Meet our legal and regulatory obligations

Who we share it with

We do not sell your details to anyone. We do not pass your details to installers, finance companies or any other third party without your explicit, informed consent. If and when you decide to move forward with an installer we've recommended, we will introduce you to that installer with your permission — and only that installer. Never several.

We do use a small number of standard business tools that process data on our behalf — for example our email provider and our contact form provider. These processors are contractually bound to keep your data secure and to only use it for the purposes we specify.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for up to 24 months in case you get back in touch. If you become a client, we keep project records for the length of any warranty period we've been involved in, plus a further six years to meet our accounting and tax obligations. After that, records are securely deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate
  • Ask us to delete your data (subject to any legal retention requirements)
  • Ask us to restrict how we use your data
  • Object to certain uses of your data
  • Withdraw consent where we're relying on it
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)

To exercise any of these rights, drop us an email. We'll respond within one month.

Cookies

This site uses only essential cookies required for the site to function. We don't use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics that identify you personally. If we ever change this, we'll ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on our homepage.
